We are seeking a motivated Quality Assurance Technician for our Australian sites, based in Goulburn, NSW on a permanent full-time basis

There are two separate roles available, one focusing specifically on the hatchery and one focusing on farms. Your position will be critical in ensuring that all company policies are adhered to and that strict hygiene processes are maintained at all times to ensure the quality of day-old parent stock sent to our customers is optimised. Previous experience in a quality role with an animal science degree or similar would be advantageous although not essential. An ability to demonstrate an aptitude in animal husbandry and welfare will be beneficial.

Reporting to the Australian QC Lead, you will work closely with the Hatchery & Farm Management and Quality Team to ensure that best practice is followed at all times. You will also assist in customer queries and identifying areas of continual improvement as key aspects of this role.

You will work towards offering continual improvement in the quality of all farm and hatchery processes, including hatching eggs and day-old chicks produced by Aviagen Australia. Through internal monitoring, the Quality Assurance Technician will provide support to the Site Managers to assist in maintaining quality standards at all times.

Your days will be varied as you:

  • Ensure control point in the areas of production, incubation, order processing and delivery are maintained within expected limits.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Provide daily reporting as required by senior management.
  • Conduct evaluation of hygiene in the production and grading of hatching eggs and day-old chicks.
  • Prepare for audits both internal and external.
  • Work closely with the site management team and employees to ensure compliance to company standards and specification
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives in housekeeping, nest box hygiene, grading standards and chick processing.
  • SOP reviewing and updating to ensure compliance.

The poultry breeding industry has very strict bio-security and animal welfare standards so all employees are restricted from keeping pet birds, poultry, pigs or other intensive livestock.
